EDT builds new to meet increasing demand

Elektriks Drivteknik – EDT, represents leading expertise in drive technology and supplies electric motors, generators and control systems. They supply high-performance electric motors, generators, control systems and quality components to customers in the process industry, engineering industry, marine and energy sectors – both in Sweden and internationally.

Behind EDT says Claes Hugoson, a civil engineer in electrical machinery. He began his career at Myrén & Co in 1984 and has since specialized in testing and verification calculations of electric motors. He is also a member of the standardization committee TK2 (IEC60034). In 2012, he took the plunge and founded EDT.

One of the company's most unique projects is a system for heating live cables – a solution that has become something of EDT's signature. The equipment works with voltages up to 1,500 kV, making it an advanced and highly regarded technology in the industry. The company also builds advanced test rooms for testing electric motors and transformers.

New premises for expansion

Now the company is taking the next step and investing in new premises.
– Our previous lease was about to expire and we saw the opportunity to build a new one. This gives us a better adapted building that meets today's requirements from both the municipality and the Swedish Work Environment Authority. At the same time, we need to expand because the market for our services and products is growing steadily, says Claes.

ELR is a good network for raising industry-specific issues

As a member of ELR, Claes highlights the value of the network and the consensus on both technical and commercial issues. He also emphasizes the importance of highlighting the possibilities of repairing electric motors without degrading their performance. With a view to saving the earth's resources.

However, he sees a central challenge going forward – the recruitment of new talent.
– We need to get better at meeting young people in schools and showing that maintenance work is both important, varied and exciting, he says.

Autumn meeting at EDT in November

This fall, EDT will host ELR's fall meeting and mini-fair on November 5-6.
– Thank you for wanting to come and visit. We look forward to showing you our new premises and perhaps inspiring you to take on your own ventures, concludes Claes.
